Easy way to get your comment featured in a news piece
Being seen as an "expert" and get your comments and opinions included in a journalist's topical news story or feature article.
Featuring in the media is an incredible way to boost your credibility. Fact.
The beautiful logos in your “As seen in…” image on your website, the fun selfies of you holding a newspaper with your face in it - it’s all awesome.
Media mentions give you, what I like to call “cool points”. Not an official term of course but PR opportunities can make you look awesome… to your clients, new clients, investors, stakeholders, your team, and potential recruits.
Hey, even your Nan might pop your newspaper feature up on her kitchen cupboard. (Yep, my Nan does this, it’s cute and I feel like a rockstar).
An amazing way to start appearing in the press (and actually one of the easiest PR strategies) is to provide an ‘expert comment’ and jump in on a story the media is already writing about.
First of all, ‘experts’ are coined this by those that follow them or read or watch them speak. It isn’t a title that you need to give yourself and I actually wouldn’t necessarily recommend it either.
Other people make the decision that you have some expertise and will see you as an expert after seeing you speak, reading your book or reading your opinion on something. So, try not to worry if you don’t feel like an ‘expert’ just yet.
Your dream clients may see you on the tele box and think, “Wow this is someone I need to listen to”. Or hear you on a podcast and say, “I like this person, I need to buy their book”.
And even if they don’t see your media mention immediately when it’s published, a strip of well-known logos in an ‘As Seen In’ image is always going to make an impact on those landing on your website.
Remember those “cool points” I just mentioned!
I get asked a lot about how to get an expert comment mentioned in the media so here’s how to easily make it happen for you or your colleagues…
